FAQ

Want to find out more about CareerWorks services? Below we have answered some of the more frequently asked questions we receive from our clients. Let us know if we have missed something so we can serve you better.

Once your registration has been processed, this can take up to 24 hours, you may receive an email asking you to complete an Information Form (it's designed to give us some background info on you). Note that the information you provide is kept confidential. The Information Form can take 15-20 minutes to complete. We prefer to send you your assessments once we receive the completed Information Form. A second email with a link to your online assessments will then be sent, this can take up to 2 business days. Try to complete your assessment package within 2-3 weeks of receiving it, so that you can stay on track and receive your results in a timely fashion.
Typically, assessments are sent out within two business days of registration. Usually once you have completed your Information Form.
Once you finish your assessments our office is immediately notified, and your reports are prepared within two business days. You will then be contacted by our office (either by email or telephone) to schedule an in-person debrief session to review your results under the guidance of a professional career counsellor. Reports are not sent out in advance of the review session.
Yes, parents can typically attend the one hour debrief session for the High School Vocational Assessment or Post-Secondary Assessment with their child. Please note that we do ask your child in advance to confirm if a parent can be present.
In-person appointments take place at the CareerWorks office, #600 - 1285 West Broadway, Vancouver.
If you can’t attend an in-person review session, we offer Skype or telephone review sessions. Due to additional administrative time, including mailing your reports in advance of the conversation and the extra times it takes the counsellor to provide the feedback, we charge an additional $60 fee for these sessions. In addition, long-distance telephone charges are the responsibility of the client.
We offer this assessment package to students ages 16-18. It is not advisable to complete these assessments if you are younger than 16 years of age as the test results may not provide valuable vocational information.
We typically offer this assessment package to students ages 19-25 who are studying at or planning to attend a post-secondary institution and have completed high school. It is also recommended for those students who have completed an undergraduate degree and are planning to pursue graduate studies.
We recommend that you complete the Adult Career Assessment package as it focuses on occupations and does not delve into specific information pertaining to post-secondary areas of study.
Once an appointment is scheduled it is considered confirmed. A minimum of 48 hours is required to reschedule an appointment or you will be charged an additional $120. When you don’t show up for an appointment, it leaves a gap in our booking that could otherwise be filled by another client. We also reserve the right to mail your assessment results without your participation in a debrief session.
While we are unable to provide you with the direct contact information for our counsellors and coaches, if you leave us a message by phone or email with your contact details, we will relay your information to them.
Our counsellors are registered clinical counsellors and we can provide their membership numbers for you to use on your claim. Please let us know in advance so that we can provide the necessary information on your receipt. We don’t file claims on behalf of clients, nor can we guarantee what percentage of your claim can be refunded. This is solely based on the particular benefit plan you subscribe to.
We would be happy to email you a copy of your testing results. As it typically takes 4-5 business days to track down your results, we do charge an administrative fee of $10.
All our assessment packages, excepting the Emotional Intelligence EQi2, are available online. If you are unable to visit our office for an in-person review session, we can arrange a Skype or telephone call session.
